   Modern dentistry should not be painful. At Blockhouse Bay Dental Centre we strive to ensure that every visit is as comfortable as possible. All of our dentists use topical anaesthetic; that is a gel like substance that is placed comfortably on the gum. Injections are only given when this has taken effect. This ensures that you can relax and look forward to numbness even before the injection is given. Imagine a painless injection; at Blockhouse Bay this is the daily standard that we work to.

Another significant aspect of pain free dentistry is our approach. We listen to you and before we start any procedure we establish that if you feel any discomfort then you will tell us. That may sound improbable when you think that you will be in the chair with your mouth wide open and a procedure underway, but we will agree that all you need to do is raise your hand even for a rest or a rinse. The nurse and the dentist will be observing you throughout the procedure and are trained to look for signs of discomfort and to act to reassure or comfort you.

Pain is a very personal thing and is experienced differently by everyone. That is why our approach is so personalised, we put you in control. Lack of personal control can be central to patient's experience of pain so we ensure that as far as possible you always feel that you are in control.
